Profile: Graeme Kirk

Graeme Kirk is the senior partner and head of the immigration department of Gross & Co Solicitors. He is one of the few UK immigration lawyers named in the 2010 edition of "Who's Who Legal" the International Who's Who directory of Business Lawyers, which lists leading business lawyers worldwide. Entry to this publication is solely through nomination by lawyers around the world. Graeme is also recognised in the Legal 500 and Chambers Directories as one of the leading UK immigration lawyers.

Graeme practices at the main office of the firm in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, and also at the firm's office in London W1. His practice aims to provide a highly personal and cost-effective service of the highest quality to business clients. He has specialised in business immigration law since 1981, founding and developing the immigration practice of Gross & Co, primarily through recommendations from clients and other professionals, including UK solicitors and overseas lawyers.

Since 1981, he has acted for clients from all over the world, and his current client list includes international banks, substantial British and foreign corporations, as well as smaller companies and entrepreneurs. He acts as consultant in immigration law to a number of firms of UK solicitors and foreign lawyers.

He deals with all aspects of business immigration, including the new Points-Based System Tiers 1-5, including applications for highly skilled persons, entrepreneurs and investors, sole representatives, and related family applications. He also provides advice to companies wishing to obtain an Employers Licence from the UK Border Agency to employ foreign nationals. He is recognised for his specialist experience in corporate immigration work, a field in which he has specialised for over 30 years, acting for many British based companies obtaining permits for foreign personnel, and foreign businesses opening operations in the UK.

He was chairman of the Immigration and Nationality Law Committee of the International Bar Association from 2000-2004. He has spoken at conferences and seminars in the UK and all over the world and acted as co-chairman of the IBA Global Immigration Conference in London held every two years since 2003. He is also a member of the Immigration Law Practitioners Association and the International Bar Association PPID Council 2009-2012. He is the UK contributor to Carswell’s “Global Business Immigration Handbook”.

He is a past President of Bury St Edmunds Rotary Club.
