Wills Trusts & Probate
Since 1848 our firm has been assisting families and individuals with their legal needs. That tradition continues and still we can help those older in years with maturing families.
Who We Are
We are proud to be a helpful, happy, professional team of lawyers who combine approachability and caring, with first rate expertise. Gary De’Ath leads a department with over 50 years’ combined experience, and a top drawer secretarial team too.
What We Do
We are most often consulted about wills – and rightly so. A professionally drawn will is a must, and can often save significant amounts of tax.
However, we offer a full range of services to our private clients, including inheritance tax planning, trusts, powers of attorney, court of protection deputyships and administration of estates. We can also offer a comprehensive service to charities. We advise upon set-up, amalgamation, wind up, modernisation of constitutions, mergers, governance, trading & tax, fundraising, Charity Commission review visits and investigations.
We understand that ill health and disability can make it difficult to get out and about to attend meetings. To help make things easier, we can come out to your home and can also arrange to have appointments with you over Skype. Please speak to us if this is something you would like to organise.
We bring a pragmatic and modern approach to our work, which increases speed and efficiency.
We take pride in working with STEP to ensure best practice is employed when advising our clients. STEP members help families plan for their futures, from drafting a will to advising on issues concerning international families, protection of the vulnerable, family businesses and philanthropic giving. Full STEP members, known as TEPs, are internationally recognised as experts in their field, with proven qualifications and experience.
